The Basildon four piece were already popular, but it wasn't until SOFAD that they went #1. The record went to the top of the charts in the UK and in the US, signaling the band's massive reach at that point. And what do you do to support a massive record? Do a massive tour. So Depeche Mode went out on their longest and biggest tour to date, hitting the road for over a year playing over 150 shows in over 20 countries. The album went on to sell millions of copies worldwide.
