His ideology was largely disseminated through his speaking, his only written work during his lifetime being his autobiography which actually wasn't even released until shortly after his death. He was critical of the civil rights movement, as he had a problem with their nonviolence and other issues. Malcolm was assassinated on February 19, 1965.
