The band tweaked the thrash metal sound that had made them the biggest band in the scene to incorporate huge melodies and choruses to become the biggest band in the world. The album's second single was "The Unforgiven," a six-and-a-half-minute ballad with a ripping Kirk solo. This song was a massive hit for Metallica and is still a fan-favorite. This original Metallica shirt from 1994, nicely worn in and faded, features "The Unforgiven" inspired art done by frequent-Metallica collaborator and skull-expert Pushead.
