My Chemical Romance released The Black Parade, their third album, in 2006. The band had already won mainstream success by that point with their vulnerable and angsty guitar music. Call it emo, call it pop punk, call it alt rock, whatever — it connected with people. They decided to get a little more experimental after the release of Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge and so singer Gerard Way penned a rock opera. Once again, the record blew up. It went to #2 on the Billboard Charts and has since been certified triple Platinum. This original My Chemical Romance shirt, nicely worn in with a few pinholes, is from when the band released their third album, the now-classic The Black Parade.
