R.E.M., the Athens, GA alternative rock band, released Automatic For The People, their eighth album, in 1992. The quartet had formed a dozen years prior and had been busy that entire time, spending a decade releasing records with IRS before they made the jump to Warner Bros and cracked into the mainstream shortly thereafter. Automatic For The People was by far the band's biggest record. It went topped the charts in the US and in the UK as well and went on to earn Platinum certifications across the world as well. Many fans consider this to be R.E.M.'s best work. This original and rare R.E.M. shirt, nicely faded, is from the 1992 released of Automatic For The People.
