The Story
Shonen Knife are a punk band from Japan founded in 1981. Now, over four decades later, the band has never stopped making music and have always been led by guitarist/singer Naoko Yamano. In the early 1990s, they began to gain some recognition outside of Japan thanks in part to the legendary band Nirvana and their singer Kurt Cobain. Shonen Knife opened for Nirvana on a European tour and their album Burning Farm was on his all time favorites list. Regardless of the changing tides, they are always playing their fast and melodic punk. In 1997, the band released Brand New Knife, a full length album featuring some songs in English and some songs in Japanese. The US version featured recordings of all the songs sung in English. This original Shonen Knife single stitch shirt from 1997, in excellent condition, is from the release of their album Brand New Knife.
