The Story
Washington, DC's pride festival has its origins in a 1970s block party. While the event has changed very much since its beginnings, the ethos and atmosphere stay true to the original ideology. In the early 1980s, the P Street Festival Committee, a then-new non-profit group, took over the organization for the fest. The Capital Pride festival still takes place to this day. This original DC Pride shirt, lightly worn in great condition, is from the 1982 edition of the festival.
